Monday, March 22, 2010 at 11:19AM Sorry it has taken so long to finally get this competition winner drawn. Been a little busy with a few things, like Mayhem launch, getting some oak barrels to put Armageddon IPA in, Beer Festivals, and now getting ready for my trip to the USA for judging at the World Beer Cup, and attending the Craft Brewers Conference in Chicago in the first week of April.
Most of the images submitted for the 42 Days of Epic Armageddon IPA were fantastic, and I gave away more cases than I had intended.
And picking a winner was even harder as each was so different and different people had different ideas on why each one was a winner.
I have selected a winner based on the greatest feedback I got on any one image. Auckland Armageddon. I think it was when you put the images up on a giant 3.2m screen you really got the Epic-ness of the images. More people commented on this one image than any other.
Next time we will probably do an online voting system so we can have we can have photoshopped images and can get people gaming the voting. (Just like the Olympics, althletes should be allowed to take perfomance enhancing drugs to get the best possible results.)

I clamour to agree with your opinion of the Epics, I also found a close friend for it, sadly only available from the Brewery in Kumeu - Hallertau Maximus. Maximus is another beer that can be described as 'deep and robust fruity hops' and it is just a tad more bitter than Armageddon I think probably different hop variety though because they are different. Both have good head, appear viscous and are in the sixes ABV. We are sooo lucky to have beer like this.
However I also found that it seems to take a bit of palate experience to enjoy flavours this intense, my son has learned (probably not a good thing to admit) but his team mates are not quite there yet and still prefer sweeter beers. Love your blog, Cheers, EinProsit, Scull!
