IT'S MORE THAN THE BEER.

WINE:

Rose, Sav Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Shiraz, Pinot Noir, Bubbles. We think we have the most popular styles covered. So if someone you visit with doesn't like beer then we should have a pretty decent wine for them to drink. Good selection at good prices. We strive to offer a range of wines as good as the beer we make. The selection will change over time, as we discover better wines to put on the list.

Parking - on site parking if you get here early enough. Captain Springs Rd has heaps, and at the weekend the clearway is available for parking on both sides of Neilson St.

Transport - local train station is Te Papapa, 800m/8 minute walk. (The Onehunga station is 1.6km/15 minute walk). Airport is 10 minutes drive.

Staff - are friends and family, and part of your local community. They are knowledgeable and passionate about beer but also your well being and what's going on in the community. We are all family here.

Music - is a bit rocky, with an obvious thread of 80's. Also the right level of loud. (Epic Taproom - Sample Playlist)

Garden Bar / Outdoor seating - The first stage of the garden bar is now complete and you can enjoy sitting outside on lovely sunny days. As time permits there will be a number of improvements added.

It's A Warehouse - don't expect much more than an industrial warehouse. During the week this is a working warehouse. Come the weekend we just pop-up some tables and benches and have some vintage couches down the back. The beer and pizzas are amazing, and the locals are friendly. We hope you enjoy it.

With everything we do we apply the mantra of "how can we do this better?". If there is something you notice that we can do better please let us know. We aren't finished with the taproom, as we see it as a work in progress and we always be tinkering and adding to it.

If you are a local or visit regularly we have a group where we share what's coming up, what's happening and what's been happening.

Best Quotes

"It's the vibe, the regulars, the staff and the easy access to the family who own the business."

"It is one of the few places that I would happily go by myself, without feeling self-conscious about the fact that I might be drinking alone. I have never had a pint alone at the taproom there's always a familiar face from last time or Luke, Wendy, Liv, and Ben. You always get a 'hello Jay' and a bright smile from the crew, you guys are damn good hosts. People have a great time there, time flies in that Taproom, you walk in when the sun's up and the next minute you hear the rolling doors coming down, leaving you with a choice of one more pint, get something to go or ordering an Uber for home."

"Loved the friendly vibe when went recently with the family (Mr 8 and Miss 6). There really was something for us all and we will be back for more great beer and nom pizza soon."

"The greatest appeal of Epic the company and now the Taproom is the relationships I have formed as a result of drinking your beer. The people I have met since going full Epic (I do dabble in other brands) come from all walks of life. So I feel privileged when I am invited (mostly I invite myself) into conversations that allow me to understand how my fellow imbibers/humans see and navigate the world. I can easily buy Epic and drink at home, but I am a social and curious person who likes to ponder and learn about what the world looks like from other people’s viewpoints"

REVIEW FROM - Concrete Playground Auckland

Epic Beer's Onehunga taproom originally launched as a pop-up in October 2019 and has since been operating across select weekends with special liquor licenses. After more than 12 months of delays from COVID-19 and a drawn-out licensing process, the craft brewery's sprawling space is now open to the public.

The taproom can be found right in the middle of the brewery's functioning warehouse down the driveway at 230B Neilson Street. The delightfully no-frills beer hall was inspired by owner Luke Nicholas' trips to similar industrial spaces in Los Angeles.

Between the warehouse roller door, wooden storage pallets and walls lined with product, there are plastic picnic tables and vintage furniture scattered around the concrete slab for seating. Arcade machines, including classics like Daytona USA, Time Crisis and Street Fighter II, sit in their own dedicated gaming corner and a massive industrial fan keeps things cool in the warmer months.

A visit to the taproom means the opportunity to try the latest Epic releases on tap. There are popular releases like the 'Armageddon' IPA, 'Joose Party' hazy pale ale and 'Hop Zombie' imperial IPA available by the pint or as growler fills to take away. The full range of canned and bottled beers can be picked up from the fridge.

For sustenance, the kitchen serves up antipasto platters, calzone and pizza — including margherita, pepperoni and fig and prosciutto. Kids and well-behaved dogs are welcome, too.

Find the Epic Taproom at 230B Neilson St, Onehunga. It's open 12pm to late Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
