This extraordinary single malt whisky has a story unlike any other.

It began in 2010, when Epic sent two small barrels of Armageddon IPA on 126 crossings of Cook Strait aboard the Interislander ferry, recreating the ocean voyages that inspired the original India Pale Ales.

The experiment was a triumph. Armageddon Barrel Aged IPA went on to win a Gold Medal and the Trophy for Best Barrel Aged Beer at the New Zealand Beer Awards.

But one barrel's journey was far from over.

For an incredible 15 years, this single oak barrel held Epic Armageddon IPA, slowly absorbing the character of one of New Zealand's most iconic IPAs.

When the barrel was finally emptied, Pōkeno Whisky filled it with their single malt whisky and left it to mature for another year, creating a remarkable meeting of beer and whisky history.

The result is Pōkeno × Epic Armageddon IPA Single Cask Whisky, an exceptionally rare release celebrating Epic's 21st birthday.
